Peer Review Process

Journal of Industrial Engineering and Management Review employs a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality and integrity of the articles it publishes. The following steps outline our peer review process:

  1. Submission:

    • Authors submit their manuscripts through the online submission system.
    • The editorial office performs an initial check to ensure the submission adheres to the journal's guidelines and focus and scope.
  2. Initial Editorial Assessment:

    • The Editor-in-Chief or a designated Associate Editor reviews the manuscript to determine its suitability for the journal.
    • Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s standards or fall outside its scope are desk-rejected.
  3. Double-Blind Review:

    • Manuscripts deemed suitable are sent to at least two independent reviewers. The identities of both the authors and the reviewers are kept confidential.
    • Reviewers are selected based on their expertise in the relevant field.
  4. Reviewers' Evaluation:

    • Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on criteria such as originality, methodology, significance of the findings, clarity, and relevance to the field of industrial engineering and management.
    • Reviewers provide constructive feedback and make one of the following recommendations: accept, minor revisions, major revisions, or reject.
  5. Decision:

    • The Editor-in-Chief or Associate Editor considers the reviewers' comments and makes a decision.
    • If the reviewers’ recommendations are conflicting, an additional reviewer may be consulted.
  6. Revision:

    • If revisions are required, the authors are given an opportunity to revise their manuscript according to the reviewers' comments.
    • Revised manuscripts are typically sent back to the original reviewers for re-evaluation.
  7. Final Decision:

    • The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision to accept or reject the manuscript based on the reviewers' final recommendations.
    • Accepted manuscripts are scheduled for publication in an upcoming issue of the journal.
  8. Publication:

    • Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting, typesetting, and proofreading before publication.
    • The final version is published online with an assigned DOI.

  6. Publication: Once the production process is complete, articles will be published online immediately on a rolling basis. The exact publication date may vary depending on the volume of articles in queue for publication.

  7. Indexing and Archiving: Published articles will be indexed in relevant databases and archives to ensure their long-term accessibility and visibility in the scholarly community.

Author Guidelines

Journal of Industrial Engineering and Management Review accepts original research articles, literature reviews, and case studies related to the field of industrial engineering and management. To ensure your manuscript is considered for publication, please follow these author guidelines:

1. Types of Articles Accepted

  • Research Articles: Present original research findings.
  • Literature Reviews: Provide comprehensive reviews of specific topics.
  • Case Studies: Present detailed analyses of specific cases relevant to industrial engineering and management.

2. Manuscript Submission

  • Manuscripts must be submitted through the OJS online submission system at [journal's OJS link].
  • Authors must register or log in to submit a manuscript.
  • Manuscripts should be in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).

3. Manuscript Format

  • Language: Manuscripts must be written in clear and understandable English or Indonesian.
  • Manuscript Length: Research articles and literature reviews should be between 6,000 to 8,000 words. Case studies should be between 3,000 to 5,000 words.
  • Font and Spacing: Use Times New Roman, 12 pt font size, double-spaced.
  • Margins: All margins should be 1 inch (2.54 cm).
  • Page Numbering: Page numbers should be placed in the bottom right corner of each page.

4. Manuscript Structure

  • Title: Should be concise and informative, maximum 15 words.
  • Abstract: Maximum 250 words, including research objectives, methods, results, and conclusions.
  • Keywords: Up to 5 relevant keywords.
  • Introduction: Outlines the background, objectives, and relevant literature review.
  • Methods: Describes research design, materials, procedures, and data analysis techniques.
  • Results: Presents research findings clearly and concisely.
  • Discussion: Discusses the implications of the findings and their relation to previous research.
  • Conclusion: Provides a summary of key findings and recommendations.
  • Acknowledgments: (If any) Acknowledge contributions and support from individuals or institutions.
  • References: Using the latest edition of APA (American Psychological Association) style.

5. Figures and Tables

  • Figures: Should be clear, high quality, and accompanied by informative captions.
  • Tables: Should be numbered and titled clearly and explained in the text.
  • Placement: Figures and tables should be placed near the relevant text and also submitted as separate files.

6. Citations and References

  • All sources cited in the text must be listed in the references and vice versa.
  • Use the latest edition of APA (American Psychological Association) citation and reference style.

7. Review Process

  • All submitted manuscripts will undergo a double-blind review process.
  • Authors will receive feedback from reviewers, which must be addressed and revised as necessary.

All authors, reviewers, and editors involved in the journal are expected to adhere to the following ethical guidelines.

1. Duties of Authors

  • Authors should present an accurate account of the work performed and an objective discussion of its significance.
  • Data and results should be presented truthfully. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior.

1.2. Originality and Plagiarism:

  • Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original. If authors have used the work and/or words of others, these must be appropriately cited or quoted.
  • Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

1.3. Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication:

  • Authors should not publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication.
  • Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior.

1.4. Acknowledgment of Sources:

  • Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.

1.5. Authorship of the Paper:

  • Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study.
  • All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project should be acknowledged or listed as contributors.

1.6. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest:

  • All authors should disclose any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript.
  • All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.

1.7. Fundamental Errors in Published Works:

  • When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate to retract or correct the paper.

2. Duties of Reviewers

2.1. Contribution to Editorial Decisions:

  • Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and through the editorial communications with the author may also assist the author in improving the paper.

2.2. Promptness:

  • Any selected reviewer who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse themselves from the review process.

2.3. Confidentiality:

  • Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

2.4. Standards of Objectivity:

  • Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

2.5. Acknowledgment of Sources:

  • Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation.
  • A reviewer should also call to the editor's attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.

2.6. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest:

  • Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage.
  • Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

3. Duties of Editors

3.1. Fair Play:

  • The editor should evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

3.2. Confidentiality:

  • The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

3.3. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest:

  • Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor’s own research without the express written consent of the author.
  • Editors should recuse themselves (i.e., should ask a co-editor, associate editor, or other member of the editorial board to review and consider) from considering manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

3.4. Publication Decisions:

  • The editor of the journal is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. The validation of the work in question and its importance to researchers and readers must always drive such decisions.
  • The editor may be guided by the policies of the journal’s editorial board and constrained by such legal requirements as shall then be in force regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.
  • The editor may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.

3.5. Involvement and Cooperation in Investigations:

  • An editor should take reasonably responsive measures when ethical complaints have been presented concerning a submitted manuscript or published paper, in conjunction with the publisher (or society).
